Skhidnytsia thermal waters

Skhidnytsia is a popular resort in the Lviv region, where people from all over go to improve their health by drinking healing water. The urban-type settlement became a bilneoological resort in 1976, but the amazing properties of local mineral waters have been known for a long time.

Mineral water Skhidnytska “Naftusia” – 38 sources, 17 boreholes, more than 25 sources are unexplored. The territory of the springs is 8 square kilometers. Mineral water resources are 80-100 cubic meters per day. The location of Skhidnytsia is in the Oriv region of the Skolivsky Carpathians, and therefore Naftusia is found together with oil in Skhidnytsia. Mineral water is formed in the bowels of the earth, and in combination with organic substances and microelements form an element of its healing power. “Naftusi” phenomenon: – significantly increases excretion from the human body; – restore metabolic disorders; – effectively affects the choleretic function of the liver; – effectively affects the excretory function of the kidneys; – affects the secretory and evacuation function of the stomach; – reproduce the regeneration of cells in the body. The healing properties of “Naftusa” are sometimes much more effective than medical preparations! “Naftusia” successfully treats diseases of the liver, kidneys, diathesis, stomach, diabetes, and also removes radionuclides and waste from the body.

According to mineralization and chemical composition, Skhidnytsia mineral waters are divided into:

  • Weakly mineralized – with an increased content of organic compounds (sources No. 1, 3, 26); – with pronounced choleretic effect (sources No. 5,8,9,10,25,1c,18c)
  • Weakly mineralized – with iron content (sources No. 13,15)
  • Moderately mineralized, hydrogen carbonate and chloride – sodium hydrogen carbonate (No. 2c) and sodium chloride

The first mention of Skhidnitsa dates back to the 14th century. In ancient times, the village was called Zolota Banya, according to researchers, from the saltworks that worked in the village. The modern name, according to one of the hypotheses, is connected with the name of the Skhidnychanka river, which cuts through the village. During its existence, Skhidnytsia experienced many dramatic events – wars and epidemics, devastating Tatar attacks and natural disasters, belonged to Poland, Austria-Hungary, and experienced the historical and political conflicts of the Soviet period. European fame came to Skhidnytsia in the middle of the 19th century with the discovery of oil and ozokerite deposits. And in just a few decades, the village took a leading place in oil production in Galicia. The countdown of the second star time began in the 50s of the 20th century, when the discoverer of the Skhidnytskyi mineral water deposit, teacher and researcher Omelyan Stotskyi began an ascetic struggle for the recognition of the Skhidnytsky springs as therapeutic mineral waters, which was crowned with success only in the 70s, when all 38 discovered source scholars were finally recognized at the state level.

  • Spring №1 (forest area, near the Golden Fleece Villa) This bicarbonate-sodium-calcium water treats urolithiasis, chronic pyelonephritis and pyelocystitis, as well as diseases of the biliary system.
  • Spring № 1-c (Zarichna St., near the “Three Sons” hotel complex) Water with a high content of organic substances. It is prescribed for diseases of the liver, urinary tract, pancreatitis, suppresses inflammatory processes in the body and helps wash out kidney stones and sand.
  • Spring № 2-c (T.Shevchenko St., near the bus station) Hydrocarbonate-sodium water of medium mineralization (“Borjomi” type composition) has a positive effect on the restoration of the acid-alkaline balance and helps to optimize the acid-forming function of the gastric glands. It is most effective for gastritis with increased acidity, chronic colitis, pancreatitis, and peptic ulcers.
  • Spring № 3 (forest area at the entrance from Boryslav) Weakly acidic hydrocarbonate-calcium water, characterized by an increased content of useful trace elements and the smell of hydrogen sulfide. It has diuretic and anti-inflammatory effects, restores kidney function and improves blood circulation.
  • Springs № 8, 9, 10 (water fountain at the beginning of T. Shevchenko St.) Weakly mineralized hydrocarbonate-calcium waters with a high content of manganese, iron, silicic acid. Effective in the treatment of diseases of the liver, biliary tract, as well as pathologies of the urinary tract and kidneys.
  • Spring № 13 (near the Three Sons hotel complex) With the help of this weakly mineralized hydrocarbonate-calcium water with a high iron content, the secretory function of the gastric glands can be improved. Water also accelerates the formation of erythrocytes in the blood, increases the level of hemoglobin, and removes radionuclides from the body. It is recommended for the treatment of liver diseases, chronic gastritis, iron deficiency anemia, radiation sickness.
  • Spring № 15 (a forest area near the “Hutsulka” sanatorium) Water saturated with iron, carbon dioxide and manganese is prescribed for the treatment of chronic stomach diseases and the removal of radionuclides from the body.
  • Spring № 18 (Kotlyarevsky Street near the Santa Maria hotel) This bicarbonate-sulfate-sodium water has an effective choleretic effect. It is recommended for diseases of the liver, kidneys, biliary system.
  • Springs № 25, 26 (forest zone near the “Zeleny Bir” medical and health center) Weakly mineralized hydrocarbonate-sulfate-calcium-magnesium waters. Kidney diseases, chronic hepatitis are treated with their help. Recommended for recovery of the body after Botkin’s disease.

Treatment in Skhidnytsia is carried out in numerous complexes with their own treatment bases, most institutions have mineral water pumps. Also, all sanatorium-resort facilities offer accommodation with diet food, examinations by a staff doctor and mostly good conditions for diagnostics.
